What is wfoto_?

wfoto is a simple piece of software, written in Perl that produces static HTML photo galleries an slides of your favorite digital photos in standard formats (i.e. jpeg, gif, png). wfoto creates thumbnail galleries and can optionaly resize your photos (in case that they are too large), an issue when producing a suitable web display from large megapixel digital cameras. At the moment if works only in Linux/Unix, and requires Perl and ImageMagick (both standard in most distributions).

The main advantages of wfoto over similar software is the use of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), drop-shadows, an improved and sleek design and a selection of themes/styles to choose from. The use of drop-shadows on the photos and thumbnail galleries heightens the photos and separates them nicely from the background. You can check some examples of the themes below. wfoto creates valid Transitional XHTML 1.0
